Kim Won-hun's 'Re-Enlistment' Reality 'Sergeant Kim at Military' Is Winning Fans
Private First Class Kim Won-hunComedian Kim Won-hun is riding a surge of popularity with his first variety show bearing his own name.

Premiering on February 2, Netflix’s new unscripted series “Sergeant Kim at Military” follows Kim―who previously completed his service as an Army sergeant from the 2009 enlistment class―as he “re-enlists” as a private first class and dives into the world of specialized military roles alongside fellow soldiers.

Rejoining as a drone operations soldier, Kim adjusts to today’s military culture in real time―showing the changes and realities with his whole body. From flying drones himself to joining group strength training, he naturally blends into the daily routine and delivers his signature on-the-ground humor. Throughout training, his quick reactions turn small moments into big laughs, striking a smart balance between variety and reality.

In group drills, he grabbed a flag, led the Army song, and set the tone. During workouts, he stuck it out to the end, serving up effortless “senior soldier” moments. On breaks, he swapped service stories with his peers, leaning into the cozy rhythm of a lifestyle variety to keep the laughs coming.

With his name-fronted solo show, Kim fully immerses in barracks life through vivid, real-life expression―and it’s landing with a wide range of viewers. He turns the “re-enlistment” nightmare premise into fresh, lively comedy while naturally spotlighting how past and present military life differ. The result: “Sergeant Kim at Military” has climbed as high as No. 2 on Netflix’s rankings in Korea, reflecting strong viewer buzz.

“Sergeant Kim at Military” premiered on February 2 and drops new episodes every Monday at 5 p.m. on Netflix.
