At the Netflix show’s press conference held the morning of the 19th at Hotel Naru Seoul in Mapo-gu, Seoul, director Jung Jong-yeon said, “One major critique from Season 1 was, ‘Just when it gets good, it ends.’ People felt it was too short. This time, we added one more mystery,” adding, “We also did a lot more outdoor filming to bring in more varied stories and a more active, player-driven narrative.”
"Agents of Mystery" is an adventure deduction variety show that tracks and solves bizarre cases that defy scientific explanation. From the creator who helped define the genre with "The Devil’s Plan," "Great Escape," and "High School Mystery Club," the 2024 series made a big splash. Season 2 returns as an open-world adventure with deeper mysteries and expanded outdoor locations.
As agents of the secret organization XIN, the cast tackles supernatural cases and clears missions. Returning from Season 1 are Lee Yong-jin, John Park, Hyeri, Kim Do-hoon, and KARINA, with new recruit Gabee joining to shake things up.
This season unfolds across three episodes: Black Room, which spotlights the team’s problem-solving skills and co-op play; The Other, where the squad closes in on the truth behind mysterious creatures; and The Secret of Baeksudam, which digs into a chilling incident that strikes an entire village.

Co-director Lee Won-ki broke down the three stories. “‘Black Room’ is the kickoff to our expanded universe. We prepared missions that only a united team―rookie agent Gabee and the veteran agents―can clear together,” he said. “The second episode, ‘The Other,’ taps into the kind of zombie/creature content many viewers love. We poured our hearts into the creature work, and the members were stunned when they faced them in swarms.”
He continued, “For the final episode, we maximized outdoor locations. A strange incident hits a village, and the team unravels the secret while tracking it down. Watch how the members navigate missions when they’re dropped into a massive, open location.”
Producer Kim Seo-gu revealed they literally booked an entire village to film The Secret of Baeksudam. “Securing the whole village was crucial. Director Lee Won-ki went there almost every day and practically became a son of the village,” he said, describing the effort behind the location deal.
Because the episode uses the entire village as its backdrop, the cast’s immersion went through the roof. Lee Yong-jin recalled, “Personally, ‘The Secret of Baeksudam’ left the biggest impact. The scale was huge, and since they booked an entire village, it was one surprise after another. Sets are man-made, but this felt like they moved a real village on-site, and the immersion was incredible.” He added, “I can still vividly remember crossing the reservoir by boat.”
"Agents of Mystery 2", now bigger in scope, premieres February 27 on Netflix.
