G-DRAGON (Kwon Ji-yong), a visiting professor in KAIST’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, shared a message with graduates at KAIST’s 2026 commencement ceremony.
On February 20 at KAIST’s main campus in Daejeon, Professor G-DRAGON appeared via video to cheer on students taking their first steps into society. President Lee Jae-myung attended the ceremony with First Lady Kim Hye-kyung.
In his address, G-DRAGON said, “Congratulations. Truly, congratulations. You did it, and you’re the kind of people who will keep doing it.” He continued, “Now you’re heading into a world without right answers. It’s okay to be wrong―just don’t stop. Have the courage to take a different path. That courage will take you the farthest. Start freely today.”
Graduates on site responded with cheers and applause to the warm encouragement from an icon of our times.
G-DRAGON was appointed a visiting professor in mechanical engineering in June 2024. In 2024 and 2025, he joined Innovate Korea and hosted a special talk on “the future of AI entertainment tech.”
