Premiering on Friday, March 13, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama "Phantom Lawyer" (screenplay by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu; directed by Shin Joong-hoon) follows “possessed attorney” Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) who fiercely resolves the grudges of the dead, and “cold-blooded elite lawyer” Han Na-hyun (Esom) who stakes everything on winning. After a teaser poster signaled this uncanny world with incense smoke and talismans, and a main poster introduced the law office that brushes up against the unseen, a special poster dropped on the 4th to complete the world-building.
This special poster expands the focus from the law office interior to the building’s rooftop. As the sunset burns red over Seoul’s skyline, Shin I-rang and Han Na-hyun stand on the roof of the building that once housed a shaman’s shrine ― now home to "Phantom Lawyer" ― gazing up at the sky.
What draws the eye is the brazier in front of the two attorneys. Flames rise inside a brick-lined fire pit, with talismans laid beneath. It marks the place where, after Shin I-rang powerfully resolves the deceased’s han (deep-seated grief/resentment), he performs the final rite to gently send their spirits off.
On this rooftop, the thunder of courtroom victories gives way to quiet farewells for the souls whose frustrations were finally heard. The wistful mood of the city silhouetted at dusk encapsulates "Phantom Lawyer"’s unique emotional core. Beyond the satisfying courtroom drama, this world balances catharsis with mourning and respect ― all in a single image.
The composition ― Shin I-rang and Han Na-hyun standing side by side, looking at the same sky ― is just as telling. The two, who once approached cases in completely different ways, seem poised to become partners with a shared goal. It also teases how the once-cold Han Na-hyun might change in this space.
“The rooftop in this special poster is where the show’s message converges,” the production team said. “If the courtroom’s release of han is ‘action,’ the rooftop’s send-off is ‘heart.’ Through this space, you’ll feel "Phantom Lawyer"’s warmth even more clearly.” They added, “The premiere is just ten days away. Please look forward to the stories that will unfold on this rooftop where han and comfort intersect.”
"Phantom Lawyer" premieres Friday, March 13 at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
