Former Chungju City civil servant Kim Seon-tae―widely known as “Chungju Man” from the city’s YouTube channel “Chung TV”―launched his personal YouTube channel and rocketed past 1 million subscribers in just three days, proving massive buzz.
Kim opened his personal channel “Kim Seon-tae” on March 2. By 6:51 p.m. on March 5―three days after launch―the channel surpassed 1 million subscribers. Through the channel’s Community tab, he wrote, “Thank you for 1 million subscribers. Leave your questions in the comments.”
There’s only one video so far, a roughly two-minute clip, but it has already topped 6 million views. Online reactions include, “He hit 1 million with a single video,” and “He’s getting the Silver and Gold Play Buttons almost at the same time.”
As interest spiked, impersonation accounts also popped up on social media. After Kim flagged one of the accounts publicly, it was reportedly deleted soon after.
