On the 12th, the show announced, “To repay viewers for their overwhelming support, Season 4 of "Whenever Possible"―originally planned for 16 episodes―will air a total of 17 episodes.”
"Whenever Possible" is a “gap-snatching” variety show that surprises people with lucky breaks in the small pockets of time we all encounter in daily life. Returning last December with Season 4, the show debuted at No. 1 across all Tuesday genres among viewers ages 20-49, signaling a flashy comeback. Riding that momentum, it ranked No. 1 in its Tuesday time slot among all programs for every episode this season in the 20?49 demographic, and held the overall Tuesday drama-variety No. 1 for nine weeks―proving powerful support from 20-49 audiences. The episode featuring Zo In-sung, Park Jung-min, and Park Hae-joon hit 5.8% household ratings with a peak of 8.4% per minute, marking a new series high and cementing its status as the dominant force in Tuesday variety. (All figures per Nielsen Korea, Seoul Capital Area.)
The show’s heat is also clear across topicality metrics. In the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute’s March brand reputation rankings (Feb. 2-Mar. 2), "Whenever Possible" placed No. 6 among variety programs, while MC Yoo Jae-suk topped the variety entertainer category at No. 1 for the same period. Good Data Corporation’s TV-OTT Non-Drama rankings for Week 4 of February (Feb. 23-Mar. 1) also put the show at No. 10 in video views, proving Season 4’s grip on both on- and offline buzz.
At the heart of the craze is the seasoned, high-level banter between dual MCs Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok. Their smooth hosting bridges “Gap Friends” (celebrity guests) and “Gap Owners” (everyday applicants), keeping every moment lively and fun. This season’s guest lineup has spanned fields and generations, welcoming Lee Je-hoon x Pyo Ye-jin, Choo Young-woo x Shin Si-a, Cha Tae-hyun x Kim Do-hoon, Kwon Sang-woo x Moon Chae-won, NMIXX’s HAEWON x SULLYOON, Lee Sun-bin x Kim Young-dae, Zo In-sung x Park Jung-min x Park Hae-joon, Song Eun-i x Kim Sook, Jung Sang-hoon x Ji Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran x Joo Jong-hyuk, Choo Sung-hoon x Kim Dong-hyun, and Esom x Kim Kyung-nam x Jun Suk-ho―solidifying its role as a comforting Tuesday-night watch for all ages.
Director Choi Bo-pil said, “Thankfully, ratings and reactions have grown with every season, and we’re grateful that the momentum continued this time as well. Even though we return ‘"Whenever Possible"’ as a seasonal show, thank you for tuning in every season. Thanks to the great response, we decided on a one-episode special extension, and we have some very special Gap Friends coming―please look forward to it.”
"Whenever Possible" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
