U.S.-based lawyer and TV personality Seo Dong-joo (42) shared a careful update after her embryo transfer, saying that while she saw two lines on a home test, it’s still too soon to be sure.
On March 12, Seo posted a new video on her YouTube channel. “I had my embryo transfer on February 21,” she said. “From Day 7 after the transfer, I started seeing two lines on pregnancy tests. But on Day 9, my blood test showed the pregnancy hormone (hCG) at 46.7, which was low and kept us on edge. The second test was 55.5, and the third was 83.4, which didn’t show a normal doubling pattern, so it’s hard to predict the outcome.”
According to Seo, even if hCG doesn’t double as expected, it can still lead to a normal pregnancy. However, there are other possibilities, like a chemical pregnancy, so she isn’t celebrating yet.
“It took two years to collect three embryos,” she shared. “We finally did our first transfer with the embryos we worked so hard for, and I’m grateful that there was at least implantation. I feel like I’ve done everything humanly possible, so now I’m hanging in there and praying. I tell the embryo, ‘You can do it. You are my child,’ and I pray every day.” Her husband, Ji Young-seok, quietly held her as she spoke.
Even without a confirmed result, Seo revealed she’s chosen a nickname for the baby: “Chilboki.”
At the end of the video, Seo added that a follow-up blood test showed her hCG had passed 100 and more than doubled in one day. “Everyone kept saying it wouldn’t work, but for the first time, it’s in the normal range,” she said. “It’s not a success yet, but I hope anyone going through this can trust their body and their embryo and keep going, no matter what others say.”
Seo married Ji Young-seok, who works in management and is four years younger, in June of last year.
