'Kick a Goal' Ever-Smiling 'Demon King' Mashima Suddenly Tears Up Mid-Game ― Why?
Kick a GoalThe always-smiling “Demon King” Mashima is seen tearing up mid-match on "Kick a Goal".

The March 18 broadcast of SBS’s "Kick a Goal" unveils the fifth Group A match of the 2nd G League. It’s a showdown between FC Wonder Woman 2026, who narrowly lost their reboot opener in a penalty shootout, and FC Balladream, stuck at the bottom of the group after two straight losses.

It’s their first face-off in about nine months since the 1st G League, and neither side can back down. Wonder Woman has struggled against Balladream with a head-to-head record of 0-3. All eyes are on the newly rebuilt Wonder Woman 2026 to see if they can finally break the “nemesis” curse and claim their first win over Balladream.

But an unexpected twist hits FC Wonder Woman 2026. Head coach Kim Byung-ji is away in Turkiye for a training camp in his capacity as Gangwon FC’s CEO. In this crunch, he handed the interim reins to “former Wonder Woman head coach” Jeong Dae-se, who knows the team inside out.

Coach Jeong Dae-se is the hero who led Wonder Woman to direct promotion with a perfect 3-0 run in the 4th Challenge League. To cover for Kim’s absence, he delivered tactics to the players via video calls and even flew to Japan for one-on-one special training with “Demon King” Mashima. Fans are watching to see if “Superman” Coach Jeong can once again be the closer who delivers a win for Wonder Woman.

The setbacks didn’t stop there. Key “do-it-all” player So Yumi is also out due to a personal schedule, leaving Wonder Woman 2026 in a “No-So Yumi” state. Coach Jeong answers with a bold lineup shake-up: Kabaddi national team member Woo Hee-jun anchors the back line, while two rookies lead the attack ― “left-foot cannon shooter” Mok Na-gyeong and the grit-packed “third-time challenger” Hyun-jin. Making her first start since joining, Hyun-jin vows, “We’ll prove Wonder Woman are not the underdogs.”

Then, a shocking moment on the field. Even in tough times, Mashima has always kept her smile ― but she suddenly bursts into tears. Can Wonder Woman 2026 overcome their biggest crisis since the team’s founding and script a comeback?

The story behind “Demon King” Mashima’s tears will be revealed on "Kick a Goal" at 9 p.m. on the 18th.
