Episode 5 of "Phantom Lawyer" (written by Kim Ga-young and Kang Cheol-gyu, directed by Shin Joong-hoon), airing on the 27th, pits “ghost-savvy attorney” Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) against the “cold-blooded ace” Han Na-hyun (Esom) over the murder of a genius scientist by his wife.
Jeon Sang-ho (Yoon Na-moo), a brilliant scientist killed by an unknown assailant, appears to Shin I-rang for help. His wife, Kim Soo-jung (Jung Ga-hee), was initially found not guilty despite being named the killer, but the prosecution appealed―and Han Na-hyun now defends her in the retrial.
Previously, after crossing paths with Shin I-rang on the Lee Kang-poong (Heo Sung-tae) and Kim Soo-ah (Oh Ye-ju) case, Han Na-hyun questioned how he kept digging up intimate, highly private details no outsider should know. When Shin came clean―that he can see and speak with the dead, who share their grievances―she brushed it off, saying she wouldn’t waste any more time getting entangled with him.
But with another case pulling them back together, Han Na-hyun seeks Shin out again. Newly released stills tease the moment, with Jeon Sang-ho’s spirit hovering by Shin I-rang’s side―raising curiosity about what the two lawyers will discuss.
Adding intrigue, Taebaek Law Firm’s head, Yang Do-kyung (Kim Kyung-nam), has started taking a serious interest in Shin I-rang. After losing twice to a rookie he’d never heard of, Yang began digging into Shin’s background. And thanks to the Lee Kang-poong case, drug boss Jo Ki-cheol (Park Ki-deok)―now jailed after his hideout was exposed―left Yang baffled with a wild claim: “That lawyer wasn’t normal. It was Lee Kang-poong.”
In pre-released images, Yang visits Emma (Cheon Young-min), the real culprit in the idol trainee case. If Emma says she saw the same thing―that Shin acted and spoke exactly like Kim Soo-ah―Yang likely won’t let it slide.
Han Na-hyun may have rejected Shin I-rang’s “secret,” yet she’s arguably the closest to it. Yang Do-kyung has moved from suspicion to active pursuit. Which Taebaek power player reaches the truth first is a key storyline to watch.
