'Figure Skating Queen' Kim Yuna to Reimagine 'Danse Macabre' in Ballet―Epic Collab with 'Ballet Legend' Kang Sue-jin
Yuna KimFigure skating “queen” Kim Yuna is teaming up with ballet “legend” Kang Sue-jin and director Shin Woo-seok of Dolphiners for a bold new challenge: becoming a ballerina.

On the 6th, Kakao Entertainment announced the release of the Google campaign “Our Queen is back,” directed by Shin Woo-seok. The project brings together Kim Yuna and Kang Sue-jin. It drops on April 6 via the Google Korea YouTube channel and on April 7 via the official Dolphiners YouTube channel.

“Our Queen is back” features Kim Yuna reinterpreting her legendary short program “Danse Macabre” as a ballet performance. In the teaser, she trades skates for a ballet costume and instantly commands attention. Fans are eager to see Yuna―so familiar on the ice―transform into a ballerina, and how the globally iconic “Danse Macabre” will be reborn through ballet. Curiosity is also high for the onstage chemistry between Kim and Kang Sue-jin, one of Korea’s most celebrated ballerinas.

Beyond the main film of Kim Yuna’s ballet performance, the rollout includes BTS (Behind The Scenes) content with production insights and on-set moments, plus five short-form videos capturing episodes before and after her performance.

The project is drawing extra buzz as a fresh venture from director Shin Woo-seok, known for inventive, playful storytelling.

This collaboration was developed through a strategic partnership with Google. The team used Google Gemini in the process of reimagining “Danse Macabre” for ballet, with ballerina Kang Sue-jin reviewing and participating across the project. Kim Yuna also tapped Gemini while practicing choreography to closely analyze and refine ballet movements. Rather than letting AI make a video on its own, experts in each field used the technology to power their own creativity.

Director Shin Woo-seok said, “I created this video in the hope that no one gives up their life goals because of money, time, or competition, and that everyone can fully unlock their potential. Kim Yuna trained passionately to transform into a ballerina and complete this stage, and I hope it becomes a special gift for many fans.”
