Premiering Wednesday, April 22, the new SBS Wed-Thu drama "Sold Out on You" (written by Jin Seung-hee, directed by Ahn Jong-yeon) follows perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (Ahn Hyo-seop) and sell-out-queen show host Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) as their lives get tangled around the clock in a rom-com setup.
In the series, Chae plays Dam Ye-jin, a top show host known for selling out every time she goes live. Taking on rom-com for the first time, Chae said, “I was nervous to try a new genre, but also excited about what I could learn and experience. Because it’s a new challenge, I prepared really hard.”
Chae was drawn to the show’s cute charm and warmth. “Dam Ye-jin is truly lovable and a little heartbreaking,” she explained. “When you’re by her side, you want to tell her she’s doing great and that you’re proud of her, but sometimes you also want to give her some tough love. In many ways, she felt like me―and like a close friend―so I grew very attached.” She picked “roly-poly” as the key word for Ye-jin, highlighting the character’s resilience and refusal to give up.

Fans are also curious how Chae will portray a professional show host. She even visited a live broadcast site to observe in real time. “They don’t just memorize a set script―they write things themselves and go live with what they’ve actually tested and felt,” she said. “I saw them answer questions popping up in the comments and realized how much they have to accomplish within a fixed time. I focused on the details so I could show that naturally.”
Chae added, “'Sold Out on You' will be a show that lets you rest your heart for a moment in our busy modern world. I filmed with the hope of passing on the comfort I felt while preparing for it to the viewers,” asking fans to “look forward to a funny, cute, and warm rom-com.”
Chae Won-bin’s many sides as Dam Ye-jin will be revealed when "Sold Out on You" premieres Wednesday, April 22 at 9 p.m.
