Former Super Junior member Kangin has announced his return with a new album.
On April 6, through a self-interview video on his personal YouTube channel, he shared an update ahead of releasing his new song “LOVE IS PAIN.” He said, “It’s been a really long time. As I get ready to release ‘LOVE IS PAIN,’ I decided to do this interview myself,” adding, “I wanted to greet the people who have waited for me first.”
He also explained why he previewed part of the track at a fan meeting. “This year, starting in the Philippines, I held a fan meeting tour, and even though the song wasn’t finished, I had a chance to sing part of a track I made,” he said. “The reactions and support from fans gave me huge strength.”
“Even after finishing the song, I went back and forth on whether to release it, but thinking of the fans who waited so long gave me courage,” he continued. “I decided to put it out as a digital single.”
Kangin also shared how he feels about resuming activities. “I can sing again and release a new album thanks to the fans,” he said. “I’ll work harder to become a better person and come back in a better way.” He added, “I know I have many shortcomings, but I’ll do my best to repay you with music.”
Kangin previously paused activities after causing controversy over a drunk driving incident. In 2019, saying he would take responsibility for various controversies that had continued for about a decade since debut, he determined it would be difficult to continue group activities and officially left Super Junior.
