Super Junior’s RyeoWook has opened up about the fan fall accident that occurred during a concert.

On his social media, he wrote, “I wanted to explain what happened to ELF. Right after the accident, I was filled with guilt toward the injured friends. I felt like they got hurt because of me.”

He continued, “I kept thinking, was it because I got too close to fans? Could I have held on tighter in that moment? I was so shocked that I couldn’t think at all. I’m sorry if that came across the wrong way.”

RyeoWook also shared that he went to the hospital to meet the fans afterward. “I spoke at length with the injured friends at the hospital. Even while in pain, they worried about me and cried, saying they were more sorry. I can’t forget that,” he said. “In over 20 years since debut, it’s the first time I’ve faced something like this right in front of me, and it was really hard on my heart. I’m so grateful no one was badly hurt.”

He added, “Going forward, Super Junior will be even more careful and focused on safety. Let’s keep meeting for a long time with no one getting hurt.”

On April 5 at the KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Arena) in Seoul, a safety fence set up near the seating area collapsed during the “SUPER SHOW 10 SJ - CORE in SEOUL” concert, causing three audience members to fall. They were taken to the hospital for treatment and were reportedly diagnosed with sprains and contusions, requiring about two weeks of rest.

Right after the incident, RyeoWook stepped off the stage to check the situation and alert staff, helping to manage the scene. Witnesses also said he stayed by the fans’ side at the hospital. While some online criticism initially questioned his first response, sentiment has shifted as his on-site actions and hospital visit became known.

SM Entertainment stated, “We deeply apologize to the injured and their families. We will fully support their treatment and do our utmost until they make a complete recovery. As the concert organizer, we take full responsibility and will thoroughly strengthen safety management to prevent a recurrence.”
