Netflix has officially greenlit a brain game survival series created by Jang Dong-min and directed by Hyun Jung-wan, known for "Game of Blood," and has opened a public casting call.
From "The Genius: Black Garnet" and "The Genius: Grand Final" to "Society Game 2" and "Game of Blood 3," Jang has evolved across every kind of battleground―strategy, politics, wilderness, psychology―racking up four survival wins. This time, he’s teaming with Netflix and director Hyun Jung-wan not as a contestant, but as the architect. For the first time, he’ll step up as master, channeling his hard-won experience to design every game and deliver a ruthless mind survival show worthy of being called an extreme survival game.
It’s also notable that "Game of Blood" series’ director Hyun Jung-wan is returning via Netflix to reach global audiences. Known for a relentless world-building approach and meticulous planning, Hyun kept both contestants and viewers on edge. With the architect’s vision and the director’s precision, this new survival show promises unpredictable, uncontrollable variables―and high-level play as the only way out.
Jang Dong-min’s mind survival show opened applications on the 8th. In the released recruitment video, Jang appears with a steely expression in a chilling atmosphere, amping up expectations for an extreme survival game. The striking line “Survive or Be Erased” and the provocative text popping up on a phone―“Are you confident?”―tease who will accept Jang’s dangerous invitation.
Jang said, “In the world of games, there are blind spots that production can never see. Only someone who has actually won can fill those gaps. I’m pouring in all my experience and know-how to deliver a mind survival show that devoted fans will truly enjoy.” He added, “No matter what contestants or viewers imagine, it’ll go beyond that.”
Director Hyun Jung-wan also shared, “I want people who’ve put everything on the line to win―people who would flip the table rather than lose. I’m looking forward to many applications and lots of excitement.”
