'Joseon Villain' Lim Ji-yeon Drops Into 21st-Century Korea as SBS Unveils 'My Royal Nemesis' Teaser Poster
Brave New World‘My Royal Nemesis’ has locked its premiere date for May 8 and unveiled a teaser poster spotlighting lead star Lim Ji-yeon.

SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Royal Nemesis’ (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seob) is a high-tension rom-com about Shin Se-ri (Lim Ji-yeon), a no-name actress possessed by the soul of legendary Joseon-era villainess Kang Dan-shim (also played by Lim Ji-yeon), and Cha Segye (Heo Nam-joon), a ruthless chaebol dubbed a “monster of capitalism.” Director Han Tae-seob of ‘Hot Stove League’ and ‘Cheer Up’ teams up with rookie writer Kang Hyun-joo.

On the 8th, the ‘My Royal Nemesis’ team dropped a teaser poster capturing Lim Ji-yeon as a “Joseon villain” colliding with the 21st century.

In the poster, Lim Ji-yeon looks as if she’s torn through an ornate mother-of-pearl folding screen. She’s a living beauty portrait―stunning yet wide-eyed in shock―instantly grabbing attention. It’s Shin Se-ri, the Joseon villain who’s been dropped straight into modern-day Korea.

Skyscrapers, cars―things unimaginable in Joseon―leave Se-ri visibly stunned and awestruck, like she’s landed on another planet. What chaos awaits this time-traveling “Joseon villain” in the new world of the 21st century? And how will she survive when everything is flipped upside down?

All eyes are on Lim Ji-yeon’s comedic transformation. In ‘My Royal Nemesis,’ she’s set to command the screen―from the fierce charisma of a power-wielding villainess to the unexpectedly cute, survival-mode grit that bursts out as she navigates modern life. Anticipation is building for the wild, 21st-century survival saga of Lim Ji-yeon’s own take on a “Joseon villain.”

SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Royal Nemesis’ will premiere on May 8 at 9:50 p.m., following ‘Phantom Lawyer.’
