Premiering May 8, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Royal Nemesis’ (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) is a high-stakes, war-of-nerves rom-com. The story pairs rookie actress Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon), suddenly possessed by the soul of the infamous Joseon “villainess” Kang Dan-sim (also Lim Ji-yeon), with Cha Segye (Heo Nam-jun), a notorious “monster born of capitalism.” Director Han Tae-seop, known for "Hot Stove League" and "Cheer Up," teams up with rising writer Kang Hyun-joo.
On the 14th, the production dropped a duo poster capturing the fated encounter between the “Joseon villainess” Kang Dan-sim and the “ruthless chaebol” Cha Segye.
In the poster, the two face each other in the same space but from different eras. The mirror-like composition―Dan-sim from 18th-century Joseon and Segye from 21st-century Korea―amps up the intrigue. You can feel curiosity, caution, and an undeniable pull between them. Their chemistry is intense enough to spark with just one shared glance.
The tagline “A Villainess Meets a New World” cranks up the mystery. In the drama, Dan-sim―born low but rising to the rank of royal consort―shook Joseon as a legendary villainess. How she ends up tangled with the 21st century’s infamously cutthroat “monster of capitalism,” Cha Segye, is the big question. Expectations are high for the unpredictable synergy that will erupt when these two antiheroes collide in ‘My Royal Nemesis.’
Starring “Joseon villainess” Lim Ji-yeon and “ruthless chaebol” Heo Nam-jun, ‘My Royal Nemesis’ premieres Friday, May 8 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following the currently airing ‘Phantom Lawyer.’
