On the 20th, the two shared that, as part of the "Hangeul Globalization Campaign," they donated laptops, tablets, and other classroom essentials to Milal Special School in New Zealand.
The "Hangeul Globalization Campaign" donates educational supplies to groups around the world that teach Hangeul―such as weekend schools and Korean-language study circles run by non-Koreans. They have consistently supported Hangeul classrooms abroad, including in New York (U.S.), Vancouver (Canada), Budapest (Hungary), and Mexico City (Mexico).
Professor Seo, who planned this donation, explained, "As K-pop and K-dramas spread globally, more foreigners and overseas Koreans want to learn Hangeul and Korean. We wanted to offer even a small boost to their education."
Actor Kim Nam-gil, who joined as a sponsor, added, "We’ll keep seeking out organizations dedicated to Hangeul education worldwide and continue to support them."
Meanwhile, Kim Nam-gil and Professor Seo regularly donate educational materials to Korean-language schools around the world on meaningful dates such as King Sejong’s Birthday (May 15) and Hangeul Day (October 9), contributing to the global reach of the Korean language.
