Yoo Sang-moo Finishes KPGA Pro Qualifying Tournament in Tied 48th Place: "I Couldn't Handle the Pressure"

Comedian Yoo Sang-moo has shared his thoughts after competing in his first-ever KPGA professional qualifying tournament, along with his scores from the two-day event.

According to the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) on the 23rd, Yoo Sang-moo participated in the 2026 1st KPGA Pro Qualifying Tournament Preliminary Group B. He recorded 86 strokes in both the first and second rounds, finishing with a total of 172 strokes (+28). His final ranking was tied for 48th place.

Yoo Sang-moo had a difficult start in the first round, struggling with 45 strokes on the front nine, but managed to recover slightly with 41 strokes on the back nine. In the second round, he seemed to find stability with 42 strokes on the front nine, but faltered again with 44 strokes on the back nine, ultimately recording the same score for two consecutive days.

While the flow of the game was different, the result remained the same. If the first round was a recovery after an early collapse, the second round showed a pattern of stability early on followed by a collapse in the latter half.

During a live broadcast on the afternoon of the 23rd, Yoo Sang-moo self-assessed his performance, saying, "I played with the mindset of just trying to beat my first-day score of 86, and I had several birdie opportunities but couldn't capitalize on them. I collapsed in the final three holes and, as if it were a prophecy, I shot an 86 again." He added, "Because so many people were interested, I couldn't overcome the pressure. I wanted to become a professional player, but I feel like I played in a way that is embarrassing for a pro."

However, he emphasized that he found a sense of direction through this experience. Yoo Sang-moo added, "Now that I have experienced the rules and the flow of the game, I want to play more aggressively in the future."

As the KPGA pro qualifying tournament requires a top-tier finish to pass, it is expected that this score is far from the qualifying range.
