Premiering on Friday, May 8, at 9:50 PM, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) depicts a volatile, war-like romance between Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress possessed by the soul of a legendary Joseon-era villainess, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a ruthless conglomerate heir known as a "monster born of capitalism." The drama is highly anticipated as the next installment in the lineage of SBS Friday-Saturday dramas that have built a trademark "refreshing universe," including "Taxi Driver", "Flex X Cop", "The Fiery Priest", "The Judge from Hell", "Good Partner", and "Phantom Lawyer".
Shin Seo-ri, the "Joseon villainess" who has traveled through 300 years to land in 2026 South Korea, explodes with refreshing charm, armed with survival-driven tenacity and an unstoppable way with words. Her counterpart, the "vicious conglomerate heir" Cha Se-gye, is a character who uses even his own notoriety for success, showcasing a proactive charm that turns crises into opportunities. The unpredictable romance between this duo of "villains"―who speak their minds and always pay back what they are owed―is expected to stimulate viewers' dopamine.
Above all, the extreme "hate-to-love" chemistry between the two, who never back down when they meet, promises fresh laughter. Much like the "flower duel" scene in the previously released teaser, the clash between these two villains who cannot tolerate injustice is expected to provide unexpected satisfaction and add intense fun.
Director Han Tae-seop praised the leads, stating, "Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun's comedic acting is the best." He hinted at the high expectations for their comedic synergy, adding, "The energy generated when the survival-driven, tenacious Shin Seo-ri and the notoriety-armed Cha Se-gye collide will create explosive entertainment."
"My Royal Nemesis", the new Friday-Saturday drama featuring "Joseon villainess" Lim Ji-yeon and "vicious conglomerate heir" Heo Nam-jun, who will carry on the legacy of the SBS "refreshing universe," will premiere on Friday, May 8, at 9:50 PM.
