Premiering on May 8, the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'My Royal Nemesis' (written by Kang Hyun-ju, directed by Han Tae-seop) is a war-like romantic comedy about Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress possessed by the soul of the Joseon era's infamous villainess Kang Dan-shim, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a conglomerate heir known as a 'monster born of capitalism.' The drama is a collaboration between director Han Tae-seop of 'Stove League' and rookie writer Kang Hyun-ju, featuring the first romantic pairing of actors Lim Ji-yeon and Heo Nam-jun.
The third teaser, released on the 30th, begins by showing Kang Dan-shim during her time as a palace maid over 300 years ago, alongside a mysterious figure by her side. The two share moments of budding excitement, such as being held tightly by an unidentified man or overlapping their hands under pouring rain. However, the scene quickly shifts to Dan-shim shedding tears as she meets her end as the 'infamous villainess,' sparking curiosity about the past narrative and the identity of the man who was by her side.
The scene then shifts to 21st-century South Korea. Two men, Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun) and Choi Moon-do (Jang Seung-jo), appear before her as she lives her second life in the body of unknown actress Shin Seo-ri. Cha Se-gye approaches her directly, saying, "I need you, desperately," while Choi Moon-do makes a cryptic proposal, saying, "I promise you a real future," foreshadowing the complex relationship between the three.
At the end of the teaser, Shin Seo-ri declares, "Since the world I dreamed of desires me, I will carve out my own destiny for once," and firmly grabs Cha Se-gye's hand, raising expectations to the highest level for her story of forging her own path in the 21st century.
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'My Royal Nemesis' will air its first episode on Friday, May 8, at 9:50 PM, following 'Phantom Lawyer'.
