"The Group Most Loved by Mexican Youth" BTS Makes Headlines in Local Media in Mexico

Mexican media outlets have spotlighted the news of BTS visiting the presidential office following an official invitation from the President of Mexico.

According to HYBE, BTS met with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the presidential office in Mexico City on the 6th (local time). The visit was arranged through an official invitation from President Sheinbaum and lasted for approximately 40 minutes. On that day, a crowd of about 50,000 people gathered at the Zócalo, the plaza in front of the National Palace, and the scene erupted in massive cheers and applause as the members appeared on the balcony.

President Sheinbaum welcomed them, saying, "Many Mexican citizens have long awaited a performance by BTS." The Mexican government treated BTS as "distinguished guests" and presented them with a commemorative plaque. The plaque stated that BTS has inspired Mexican youth through their music and contributed to the formation of a community based on a culture of respect, empathy, diversity, and peace.

Local media rushed to report on the event. The daily newspaper El País México highlighted the scene where tens of thousands of fans filled the plaza in front of the National Palace, using the phrase "ARMY has taken over the Zócalo." The outlet described how the plaza was covered in cheers and tears during the approximately seven minutes that BTS appeared on the balcony with President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Other major Mexican daily newspapers, including El Universal, Milenio, and Excélsior, also gave significant coverage to the official meeting with the President, the "distinguished guest" treatment, and the fervor of the fans gathered at the Zócalo. Some outlets described BTS as "the global group most loved by the Mexican youth generation" and featured President Sheinbaum's statement that "the music and values of BTS connect Mexico and South Korea" in their main headlines.

Following the meeting, President Sheinbaum wrote on her social media, "It was a pleasure to welcome BTS, one of the groups most loved by Mexican youth," adding, "The music of BTS and the values they convey connect Mexico and the Republic of Korea as one." She further evaluated that BTS's music delivers a positive message that promotes a culture of peace and inclusion.
