On the May 19th broadcast of SBS's 'You're my destiny', the couple appeared as the show's newest pair.
During the episode, the two spoke about the misunderstandings people have had about them. Song Ji-eun noted, "One of the funniest comments I saw was that I was a 'hired caregiver.' That’s how they labeled me. It’s funny because he’s not the kind of person who needs that; he does everything on his own."
Park Wi added, "I do most things by myself. But there are things I can't do, and getting help for those isn't a big problem."
Park Wi then clarified, "I live my daily life with a catheter," and stated, "I, Park Wi, do not need help with bathroom issues." He continued, "I may be lacking, but I handle my own urination and even use suppositories myself. At first, I was embarrassed to use tools for urination and didn't want anyone to find out. But then I thought, just like there are many ways to reach a destination, perhaps it’s just a different method. Since then, I’ve been open about it, almost like I’m advertising it," showing his positive mindset.
On this day, Park Wi enjoyed the scenery while canoeing with Song Ji-eun. However, seeing Song Ji-eun so happy, Park Wi couldn't hide his emotions and became tearful.
He expressed his honest feelings, saying, "I was a very active person before my accident. If I hadn't been injured, I could have shown you so much more after we got married," adding, "Seeing you so happy makes me want to stand up," which touched the hearts of viewers.
Regarding his marriage to Song Ji-eun, Park Wi said, "I am grateful just for the fact that Ji-eun loves me, but the decision she made to spend her life with me is a gift I could never fully repay," moving Song Ji-eun to tears.
Song Ji-eun wiped her tears and said, "Hearing that I am such a precious person to someone is incredibly moving."
Song Ji-eun cautiously opened up, saying, "Since I started working in the entertainment industry at a young age, I always felt I had to prove myself and keep climbing higher. Because my work affected the livelihoods of many people, that sense of responsibility weighed me down, and I couldn't make choices that were true to myself. That’s why my self-esteem dropped."
She continued, "People used to ask me why my eyes looked so sad even when I was smiling, and I didn't really know the reason. But after meeting him, I think I understand why. I was struggling because I wasn't being myself. Since meeting him, my self-esteem has risen, and as I started making choices that are true to who I am, I’ve been able to live with confidence."
Song Ji-eun added, "By encouraging me, supporting me, and looking at me with eyes full of love, he gave me the sunlight and water I needed to bloom," expressing her gratitude to her husband. Park Wi responded, "To repay Ji-eun for her choice, I want to make her happy for the rest of her life," showing his happiness in a life that was finally made complete after meeting Song Ji-eun.
