Scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 26, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Manager Kim' (written by Nam Dae-jung, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun) is an adaptation of the popular Naver webtoon of the same name. The series is highly anticipated as a "father universe" revenge action drama, telling the story of an ordinary father who becomes "the most dangerous man in the world" to rescue his only daughter.
At the script reading, a trustworthy lineup of actors including So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, Son Na-eun, and Kim Sung-kyu gathered, showcasing explosive chemistry from their very first meeting. Director Lee Seung-young, who is helming the project, set a positive tone for the set by sharing his strong determination: "I will do my best so that when this project ends, everyone can feel that it was a fun and truly amazing experience."
So Ji-sub, taking on the title role, undergoes an acting transformation as 'Manager Kim,' the father of Min-ji. While he appears to be an ordinary employee at a small savings bank, he is actually a former inter-Korean covert operative. So Ji-sub dominated the room with his multi-dimensional performance, seamlessly shifting between a doting, affectionate father and a cold, charismatic force determined to save his daughter.
Choi Dae-hoon delivered a versatile performance as 'Seong Han-soo,' Tae-hoon's father and a former taekwondo gold medalist who now runs a taekwondo gym. He anchored the drama by balancing sharp tension with So Ji-sub and exchanging lively, comedic chemistry with Yoon Kyung-ho, who plays Park Jin-cheol.
Yoon Kyung-ho, playing 'Park Jin-cheol'—a former legend on the battlefield who now finds his greatest happiness in being called Da-bin's dad—fully immersed himself in his character. He brought laughter to the room by portraying a realistic father tearing up over his daughter growing up too fast, alongside his bickering chemistry with Choi Dae-hoon.
Joo Sang-wook, Son Na-eun, and Kim Sung-kyu left a strong impression with unconventional characters that are 180 degrees different from their previous roles.
Joo Sang-wook plays 'Joo Kang-chan,' the chairman of Juhak Construction who attempts to solve everything with money and violence. He created a chilling atmosphere in the room as he stood in sharp opposition to the protagonist, Manager Kim (played by So Ji-sub).
Son Na-eun portrayed 'Sang-ah,' Manager Kim's coworker who harbors a secret, capturing both the bubbly charms of a Gen Z office worker and a mysterious aura. Kim Sung-kyu, playing 'Kang Seong,' a special agent sent from North Korea on a secret mission, maximized the suspense with his sharp expressions and deep, heavy voice.
The production team shared, "SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Manager Kim' has officially confirmed its premiere for Friday, June 26. Please look forward to 'Manager Kim,' which features passionate performances from So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, Son Na-eun, and Kim Sung-kyu, alongside a powerful cast of talented actors with brilliant acting skills and unique charms."
SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Manager Kim' will premiere on Friday, June 26, following the conclusion of the currently airing drama 'My Royal Nemesis.'
