On June 2, the production team of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' (written by Nam Dae-jung, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun), which is confirmed to premiere on Friday, June 26, released warm and humanizing on-set stills of So Ji-sub, who plays the lead role of Manager Kim, teasing his passionate portrayal of fatherly love.
Adapted from the popular Naver webtoon of the same name, 'Agent Kim Reactivated' is a 'father-universe' revenge action drama about the 'most ordinary' father in the world who becomes the 'most dangerous' man to rescue his only daughter.
In the drama, So Ji-sub plays Manager Kim, an ordinary employee at a small savings bank whose entire world revolves around his high school sophomore daughter, Minji (played by Seo Su-min). However, his true identity is a former secret agent dispatched on countless special operations, making his very existence a ticking time bomb. Through this project, So Ji-sub is expected to once again prove his vast acting spectrum by delivering a performance with extreme contrasts.
In the newly released stills, Manager Kim is shown as an 'ultra-realistic father' who wears a floral apron every morning to cook meals for his daughter, irons her school uniform, and busily wakes her up. The realistic father-daughter chemistry, featuring bickering with a high school daughter who prefers sleep over breakfast, is raising anticipation.
Furthermore, he perfectly captures the bittersweet moments of an everyday father, dozing off in front of the TV at night with slumped shoulders and glasses hanging halfway down his nose, which is expected to deeply resonate with fathers nationwide.
Notably, despite this being So Ji-sub's first time playing a father with a grown daughter since his debut, he reportedly led a warm and friendly atmosphere on set from the very first shoot, boasting perfect chemistry with rookie actress Seo Su-min, who plays his daughter.
The production team of 'Agent Kim Reactivated' shared, "So Ji-sub will approach viewers with a much more relatable image in this project. The ordinary, doting-father scenes in the beginning are a build-up for the massive events and twists to come. Please look forward to his surprising, contrasting performance that will unfold later."
'Agent Kim Reactivated,' which promises the birth of a well-made revenge action series, will premiere on Friday, June 26 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
