The rivalry from the movie 'Wild Sing' (directed by Son Jae-gon) has come to life in the real world.
With 'Wild Sing' climbing to No. 2 at the box office in its opening weekend, an amazing phenomenon has occurred: two tracks from the film's soundtrack have entered the music charts.
According to Melon, Korea's largest music streaming site, on June 8 (as of 2 p.m. KST), 'Love Is' by Triangle, a song from the 'Wild Sing' soundtrack, ranked at No. 75 on the 'Hot 100' chart, while Choi Sung-gon's 'I Like You' landed at No. 79.

While neither song is at the top of the chart, it is still a remarkable feat for tracks from a movie soundtrack to enter the Hot 100. What makes this even more interesting is that, mirroring the rivalry in the film, Triangle is leading while Choi Sung-gon is close behind. In the movie, Triangle bursts onto the scene like a comet to sweep the No. 1 spot, while Choi Sung-gon is hilariously yet heartbreakingly stuck at No. 2 for 39 consecutive weeks.
However, the perceived popularity of Choi Sung-gon's 'I Like You' feels even hotter. In particular, Choi Sung-gon and 'I Like You' are being consumed as memes across YouTube, social media, and online communities, generating a buzz that rivals the movie itself.
'Wild Sing' is a comedy film about Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group that once dominated the music industry but disbanded overnight due to an unexpected scandal. The movie follows their reckless challenge to seize a chance at a comeback 20 years later. It stars Gang Dongwon, Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se.
