Jung Won-gyu, a contestant from the TVING dating reality show 'EXchange 4' which concluded earlier this year, has announced legal action against false rumors regarding his girlfriend, Park Ji-hyun.
On June 8, Jung posted a lengthy statement on his social media account, addressing a rumored "dinner sighting" that has been spreading online.
Previously, rumors had circulated on social media and online communities claiming that Jung was spotted badmouthing his girlfriend, Park Ji-hyun, during a dinner with an acquaintance, and allegedly stating that he had no intention of marrying her.
In response, Jung explained, "Recently, I became aware of absurd rumors and malicious falsehoods about me spreading across various social media platforms, including my girlfriend Ji-hyun's YouTube channel. The ridiculous claims suggest that I badmouthed Ji-hyun during a dinner with a friend, talked about my ex-girlfriend, and said I wouldn't marry Ji-hyun."
He continued, "At first, because it was completely untrue, I didn't even feel it was worth responding to. However, I worried that people might believe these baseless rumors, and above all, I wanted to protect my beloved girlfriend from any further hurt or damage, which is why I decided to write this post myself."
Jung repeatedly emphasized that the rumored sighting is false. "It is true that I had dinner with a close male friend who is also a colleague from the same agency," he countered. "However, it is common sense that I would never carelessly speak negatively about my girlfriend in a public space where many eyes and ears are around."
He added, "Most of our close acquaintances already know this, but I am certain about marrying Ji-hyun. While we have shared serious thoughts about the timing of our marriage and the preparation process, I have absolutely never spoken negatively or badmouthed Ji-hyun."
Regarding the rumors about his ex-girlfriend, he drew a firm line, saying, "I don't even know what that is about, and it is an absurd story that is not even worth mentioning."
Jung stated, "I can no longer overlook criminal acts that defame and cause pain to me and those around me. I will pursue strict legal action without leniency against the original poster and those who recklessly spread the rumors."
He re-emphasized his firm stance, adding, "We have already gathered sufficient evidence to take strong legal action."
Meanwhile, Jung Won-gyu appeared on TVING's 'EXchange 4', where he successfully reunited with Park Ji-hyun, and the couple has continued their public relationship since the show concluded.
