On the June 9 broadcast of SBS's 'Sunim & Sonim', the guests were shown visiting a school with Venerable Pomnyun.
On this day, Venerable Pomnyun mentioned the school he built here 33 years ago. He explained that the streets used to be filled with begging children because there was no school.
Venerable Pomnyun continued, "So, I built a school with the villagers. We received a donation of the most barren land and sowed the seeds of learning," adding, "The education began with the village youth who had received formal education serving as teachers." He then introduced Sujata Academy, which now has 300 students.
The students of Sujata Academy performed a dance, and the guests joined them on stage, drawing attention. Watching this, Venerable Pomnyun explained, "Since the children are from the untouchable class, they have an inferiority complex. I started teaching them arts and physical education to help them gain confidence."
Following the monk's recommendation, the guests then visited a traditional market. They had a great time eating street food and experiencing a local barbershop together.
On this day, WOOCHAN shared that his life felt like 'The Truman Show,' saying, "My entire life is exposed to the public. It has been public since I was 100 days old."
He drew attention by adding, "From my childhood to this very moment, my life has been completely public. I have lived as a celebrity for all 21 years of my life, but when I faced ups and downs during my idol debut process and my work collapsed, I collapsed as well."
WOOCHAN honestly shared, "When WOOCHAN the celebrity and musician collapsed, I couldn't even breathe or eat. It was so hard. I wondered, 'What is the real me?' When my reputation and status shook, I shook too. So I was scared," capturing the viewers' attention.
On this day, WOOCHAN asked Venerable Pomnyun how he could find happiness. Through their conversation, he realized the truth that happiness comes along with unhappiness.
With a brightened face, WOOCHAN caught everyone's attention by saying, "Because I am happy, I can also be unhappy. Just reminding myself of that seems to bring balance. And maybe I am stronger than I thought."
