It has belatedly come to light that comedian-turned-beauty creator Kim Ki-soo (50) has embarked on a new career as a hair designer after halting his YouTube activities.
Kim Ki-soo recently opened a one-person hair salon in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, and has been meeting clients under the name of hair designer "Su-ssaem."
Reviews and price lists of the salon operated by Kim Ki-soo himself are being shared online, drawing significant attention. In particular, it has caught people's eyes as he reportedly offers personal color analysis and makeup advice alongside hair services.
Reviews from visitors are generally positive. Online posts include comments such as, "I was surprised to see Kim Ki-soo in person," "The styling was more satisfying than I expected," and "Even though it was my first visit, he gave me a thorough consultation."
Kim Ki-soo reportedly prepared to become a professional hair designer after completing a course at a beauty academy and obtaining his hairdresser license in 2024.
Previously, Kim Ki-soo gained attention by showcasing men's makeup content during his time as a beauty YouTuber.
However, in the latter half of his YouTube career, controversies arose regarding his expertise in explaining cosmetic ingredients and skin care. Criticisms mounted as pointers were raised about inaccurate information being conveyed in his product introduction content, yet he failed to provide a clear explanation or apology.
Since January 2024, Kim Ki-soo virtually stopped uploading new videos, maintaining only minimal channel management such as organizing playlists and editing thumbnails. It was later revealed that he set his entire channel to private and deleted it in May of last year.
Kim Ki-soo debuted as an open-recruitment comedian for KBS in 2001, and later transitioned into a beauty creator.
