In the episode airing on the 17th, the first-ever 'Kick a Goal Sports Festival' held in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province, will be unveiled. For this special, the coaches and players who completed the long journey of the 2nd G-League will gather to split into two teams, the Blue Team and the White Team. They are set to compete in a unique showdown, testing their speed, agility, strength, and teamwork.
Expectations are particularly high as the sports festival will feature the first-ever women's handball match in the history of 'Kick a Goal'. To prepare for this, South Korean women's handball legends and key players of the 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medal team, Kim On-a and Bae Min-hee, will serve as special coaches.
Ahead of the match, Kim On-a expressed her hopes, saying, "I hope this game helps handball receive a lot of love from many people," while Bae Min-hee also shared her excitement, adding, "I think this is a great opportunity for handball to be in the spotlight."
Adding to the expertise and fun, Park Ha-yan of 'FC National Family', a former member of the national handball reserve team, will join as a special commentator. Park Ha-yan expressed her unique feelings, stating, "I have always dreamed of the day the 'Kick a Goal' players would play handball."
The competition will be divided into two matches with Group A and Group B, featuring adjusted rules to ensure beginners can enjoy the game without pressure. The players in Group A, who took the court first, were seen struggling with the unfamiliar rules and fast pace of the game, much like when they first started soccer in the early days of 'Kick a Goal'. Even 'Kick a Goal' aces Lee Hyun-yi and Jeong Hye-in made the set burst into laughter after accidentally kicking the ball out of habit during the match.
However, as the players adapted at a frightening speed and ignited their competitive spirit as the game progressed, MC Bae Sung-jae reportedly couldn't hide his surprise, saying, "Why are they so good? I wanted to commentate on a total disaster!"
Will 'Kick a Goal', which led the 'women's soccer boom', be able to trigger a 'women's handball boom' through this match? The first-ever handball challenge by 'Kick a Goal' will be revealed on the episode airing on the 17th at 9 PM.
