Scheduled to premiere on June 26, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' (written by Nam Dae-joong, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun) is a 'father-universe' revenge action drama. It follows the 'most ordinary' father who becomes the 'most dangerous' man to fight and rescue his only daughter.
Even before its official premiere, 'Agent Kim Reactivated' is drawing intense interest. It has ranked fifth for two consecutive weeks in the TV drama news category released by FunDex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation, proving itself to be one of this summer's most highly anticipated series.
The relationship chart released on June 18 centers around Manager Kim (played by So Ji-sub), an ordinary head of a household and the manager of the accounting team at Sangsaeng Savings Bank, who raised his daughter Kim Min-ji (played by Seo Su-min) alone. The chart captures attention by showing a dense web of allies, enemies, and mysterious figures shrouded in secrecy.
His most reliable allies are his longtime friends. Seong Han-su (played by Choi Dae-hoon), a white Taekwondo academy director and Tae-hoon's father, will showcase 'unrivaled' martial arts skills that shone during his days as a secret agent. Meanwhile, Park Jin-cheol (played by Yoon Kyungho)—currently Da-bin's father and a volunteer for the Marine Corps Veterans Association, but once renowned as the 'God of War'—will serve as a powerful helper for Manager Kim with his rock-and-roll spirit and high-power action.
On the other hand, the conflict is equally sharp. As Manager Kim's daughter, Kim Min-ji, clashes with Joo Hye-ri (played by Yoo Ji-an), the daughter of Joo Kang-chan (played by Joo Sang-wook), a tense confrontation forms between the two fathers. The stakes are set to rise even further with the addition of Joo Kang-chan's chief of staff, Chief Nam (played by Lee Dong-ha), and Gold Tooth (played by Cho Bok-rae), a henchman seeking revenge against Joo.
The mysterious vibes surrounding the supporting characters also spark curiosity. Assistant Manager Jeong Sang-ah (played by Son Na-eun), Kim's coworker, and Mr. Im (played by Park Jin-woo), the owner of Dowon Laundromat and a local resident, are closely watching Manager Kim. This leaves viewers wondering what twists they might be hiding behind their friendly faces.
Most of all, national-scale keywords that threaten to shatter Manager Kim's daily life add to the suspense. Major storylines intertwine—including 'surveillance' by Kang Guk-cheol (played by Won Hyun-jun), the director of the South Korean National Special Missions Bureau with the codename 'Mole Cricket'; 'revenge' by North Korean spy Park Kang-seong (played by Kim Sung-kyu); and 'confrontation' with Ri Eung-ryeong (played by Lee Jae-yong), the director-general of the North Korean Reconnaissance General Bureau. These elements raise anticipation for the broadcast, where Manager Kim's true identity and colors will be revealed.
The production team, fully prepared for the show's launch, shared, "'Agent Kim Reactivated' is a story of a father determined to undergo a grim transformation for his family, which will bring great empathy and comfort to viewers. Please look forward to the adrenaline rush delivered by these fathers in the summer of 2026."
They added, "We are grateful to the viewers who cheer every time a new clue is dropped. We will prove that your expectations are not in vain," urging everyone to tune in to the live broadcast.
SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' will succeed 'My Royal Nemesis' and premiere on Friday, June 26 at 9:50 PM KST.
