The United States and Iran are continuing with working-level talks after concluding their first high-level meeting to implement the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on ending the war.
Iran's ISNA news agency reported that working-level talks between the two countries to discuss the formation of working groups and plans for implementing the MOU will begin in Switzerland on June 22 (local time).
Iran is sending a delegation composed of political, economic, and legal experts, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, to these working-level talks.
As with the high-level meeting, representatives from the mediating countries, Pakistan and Qatar, will also attend the working-level discussions.
The Iranian high-level delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has returned home after completing the first round of talks with the U.S. in Bürgenstock, near Lucerne, Switzerland.
During the "two-day, no-overnight" high-level meeting, both sides agreed to establish a roadmap for negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days, as well as a framework for managing disputes related to the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon.
The Swiss government issued a statement on June 22 following the conclusion of the first high-level meeting between the U.S. and Iran aimed at ending the Middle East war, announcing that conditions have been set for technical discussions to follow immediately.
In the statement, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs welcomed the "constructive progress made during intensive diplomatic talks held between Iran, the U.S., and the mediating countries in Bürgenstock from the night of June 21 to the early morning of June 22," adding that the agreed-upon roadmap has "created the conditions for the immediate resumption of new working-level discussions."
