On the afternoon of June 25, a press conference for SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' (written by Nam Dae-jung, directed by Lee Seung-young and Lee So-eun) was held at the SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. Director Lee Seung-young and actors So Jisub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyungho, Joo Sang Wook, and Son Naeun attended the event to share various stories about the work.
'Agent Kim Reactivated' is based on the popular webtoon of the same name. It is a father-universe revenge action drama about a 'most ordinary' father who becomes the 'most dangerous' man in the world to rescue his only daughter.
So Jisub plays 'Manager Kim', an ordinary employee at a small savings bank and a devoted father who only cares for his high school sophomore daughter Min-ji (played by Seo Su-min). However, his true identity is a former black-ops agent whose very existence is like a ticking time bomb.
During the press conference, a question was raised comparing the show to another 'Manager Kim' familiar to the public—the JTBC drama 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' starring actor Ryu Seung-ryong.
In response, So Jisub drew a clear line, saying, "Although the name 'Kim' is in both, our work has a completely different tone, so I didn't pay any special attention to that."
So Jisub explained that the distinct charm of 'Agent Kim Reactivated' lies in its 'harmony.' He said, "The biggest charm of our drama is the thrilling, refreshing action and the perfect combination of characters, each with their own deep backstories." He added, "Since his daughter has disappeared, Manager Kim himself cannot be cheerful, but when he meets his friends, there is a sense of humor that allows him to breathe. That kind of harmony is very charming."

The narrative of 'Agent Kim Reactivated', where a father dives into revenge to save his daughter, also brings to mind the movie 'Taken'. Director Lee Seung-young, who helmed the production, expressed a deeper sense of pride regarding the modifier 'Korean version of Taken'.
Director Lee smiled and said, "I believe our work surpasses the movie 'Taken'." He emphasized, "While 'Taken' focused on a father's real-time pursuit to find his daughter, ours is a long-form story told over 10 episodes. While fully retaining the strengths of 'Taken', we added the backstories of surrounding characters and lively personalities that couldn't be captured in a movie. The performances of various actors bring these characters to life, offering plenty of spectacular sights."
Meanwhile, 'Agent Kim Reactivated' will premiere on Friday, June 26 at 9:50 PM KST, following 'My Royal Nemesis'.
