"Assassins," which has been officially invited to the Gala Presentation section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, has unveiled its concept through character posters.
"Assassins" tells the story of tracking the suspicions and masterminds behind the assassination of the First Lady, an incident that shocked South Korea on August 15, 1974.
The character posters released on the 10th capture the vivid intensity of the three figures facing the First Lady's assassination, immediately grabbing attention. The powerful expressions of each character amidst the chaotic scene heighten tension, foreshadowing the persistent and heated struggle they are about to unfold.
First, the image of Cheol-gu (Yoo Hai-jin) staring at the shocking crime scene draws focus. The expression of Yoo Hai-jin, which conveys the complex state of mind of a detective facing an unprecedented incident, blends with the tagline "The one who tracks the truth," sparking curiosity about his heavy narrative as he leads the story from the front lines of the investigation. Following him, Jae-hwan (Park Hae-il), a social affairs editor at a newspaper, anchors the film with his unwavering gaze, expressing his characteristic sharp insight and firm beliefs.

In addition, the tagline "The one who tries to reveal the truth" raises questions, foreshadowing the persistent investigative instinct of Jae-hwan, a journalist who does not break his pen despite intense pressure. Young-il (Lee Min-ho), a rookie reporter full of passion and ambition, conveys the chaos of the scene as he urgently reports the situation to his newspaper immediately after witnessing the First Lady's assassination. The tagline "The one who digs for the truth" builds anticipation for the bold performance of Young-il, who dives into the fray to uncover the veil of the incident.
The character posters for "Assassins" maximize immersion by densely showing the narratives of three individuals who pursue the truth in their own ways regarding a single incident. The meeting of these three actors, who will fill the screen with just their gazes, signals the birth of a unique mystery thriller that will shake up the theaters this Chuseok, raising expectations to new heights.
"Assassins," which adds to the anticipation with the acting ensemble of national actors such as Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho, along with the dense direction of director Hur Jin-ho, is scheduled for release this Chuseok.
