The movie "The Odyssey" has claimed the No. 1 spot in overall advance ticket sales just two days ahead of its release.

According to the Korean Film Council's ticketing tallies on August 3, "The Odyssey" captured the top spot in both categories with a 41% reservation rate and 370,000 advance tickets sold. This marks a feat that surpassed "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which has been igniting a box office craze by surpassing 3 million moviegoers in just five days.

Christopher Nolan, the director and leading figure behind "The Odyssey," along with Matt Damon and Charlize Herons, have visited South Korea for promotional activities, carrying out press conferences and promotional schedules. The domestic audience's anticipation for the film, combined with their promotional visit to Korea, appears to have propelled it to the No. 1 spot in advance reservations.

The two films are set to face off in theaters on August 5. Attention is focused on who will come out on top in the showdown between the upward-trending "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and "The Odyssey," which is enjoying the new-release effect.

The local box office is showing bright prospects with the release of two major Hollywood blockbusters alongside Korean films "HOPE" and "Heartsping Of Love 2 : The Legend Of The Whale Jewel." With the peak vacation and holiday season underway, audiences exhausted by the intense heat are expected to flock to theaters.
