SBS's new entertainment program "My AI Partner - Strange Romance", premiering on Thursday, August 20 at 9:00 PM, released its official poster on the 5th, capturing the relationship between humans and AI with striking visuals.
"Strange Romance" is South Korea's first AI dating survival show that observes the emotional changes of human participant representatives as they go on direct dates with AI partners. It starts with the provocative question, "Can the emotion of love exist even if the partner is an AI?"
The released poster intuitively depicts the program's unique worldview, where the boundaries between reality and the virtual world blur through transparent smart device screens, charging cables, and dreamlike colors blending blue and pink hues. The phrase "Can you love an AI?" split across the screen, combined with visuals of a human and an AI reaching out to each other, foreshadows the beginning of unfamiliar emotions.
Webtoon artist Kian84, comedian Jang Doyoun, and actor Lee Yu-bi participate in this project as cast members, sharing their daily lives with AI partners. The three are set to vividly portray unexpected emotional shifts, including excitement, attraction, jealousy, confusion, and regret. As studio hosts, Jang Doyoun, who has direct experience with AI dating, will be joined by singer Kangnam and actor Lee Joon to analyze the participants' psychology from various angles while delivering delightful chemistry.
The production team shared their planning intent, stating, "At a time when AI is rapidly catching up with all human capabilities, we wanted to ask whether even 'love' is possible. Through the emotional shifts of excitement, attraction, jealousy, and confusion experienced by human participants dating AI partners, we aim to test the possibilities and limitations of AI within the realm of relationships."
The unique dating experiment crossing reality and fantasy, "Strange Romance," will premiere on Thursday, August 20, at 9:00 PM.
