While the heartwarming moment of BTS member JIMIN hugging a young girl battling childhood cancer and kissing her on the forehead during a concert went viral worldwide, the wave of donations sparked by the scene continues to grow.
During his concert on the 15th (local time) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, JIMIN stepped off the stage, hugged 10-year-old childhood cancer patient Olivia, kissed her on the cheek, and gave her a keyring as a gift. Olivia became a hot topic after beaming and shouting, "I got a kiss!" about the moment.
Triggered by this scene, a fundraising campaign launched by the childhood cancer nonprofit Heroes For Children has already surpassed its goal twice. The initial goal of $50,000 was exceeded within two days, and as of the 20th, it has surged to over $84,000.
A representative from Heroes For Children stated, "We were surprised that this happened overnight through the voluntary participation of fans, even though it was not planned in advance and we never asked for donations."
Heroes For Children released vlogs of five pediatric patients who attended the concert at the time, including Olivia, who received the keyring gift from JIMIN. In the video, Olivia continued to hold and show the keyring she received from JIMIN, saying that this concert was a meaningful experience that cannot be measured by numbers.
