Actor Choi Minsik shared the story behind his initial reaction to hearing Han So-hee's name for the upcoming film "The Intern".
During a press interview held in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 7th, Choi talked about casting discussions for the movie. Regarding his first reaction of "That Han So-hee?" when she was mentioned as a candidate, he said, "She is such a young and fashionable person. I wondered when I would ever get to work with someone from such a new generation. At the same time, I also wondered if there would be too much of a generational gap."
Choi continued, "However, once we started filming, I found out she is easygoing, cool, and straightforward. I really liked those sides of her. Above all, I felt that she was staking everything she had on this project. Seeing her desperation to pull off the performance made me feel that another Korean version of Jules was about to be born. At the same time, I thought to myself that I needed to stay sharp." He praised the motivation he received from his junior co-star.

He also noted that Han So-hee's drive stood out during the casting process. Choi shared, "I was cast a long time ago, and as director Kim Do-young took the helm, we had many discussions about the project during the preparation stage. There were a few other candidates besides actor Han So-hee for the role of Seon-woo. But Han So-hee wanted it more actively than anyone else. The best person for a role is someone who truly wants to do it, and since she wanted it that badly and threw herself into it with such ambition, I told them that it was only right to give her the opportunity."
"The Intern" depicts an office life that transcends generations and ranks, beginning when Ki-ho (Choi Minsik), a 37-year-old veteran silver intern, joins the company of Seon-woo (Han So-hee), who rapidly emerged as a dark horse in the fashion industry just three years after launch. It is a remake of the 2015 global hit Hollywood film of the same name. Choi Minsik plays the silver intern Ki-ho, while Han So-hee plays the young CEO Seon-woo, showcasing their chemistry on screen.
The film is set to open in theaters on September 16.
