MBC is honoring the late weathercaster Oh Yoanna on the second anniversary of her passing by setting up a dedicated memorial space.

MBC designated the one-week period from September 14 to 20 as a memorial week to mark Oh Yoanna's second anniversary, establishing a memorial space on the first floor of the Management Center at its headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. MBC stated, "This will serve as a place to honor the deceased, remember the time shared together, and extend our heartfelt condolences."

Born in 1996, Oh Yoanna joined MBC in 2021 and worked as a weathercaster before passing away in September 2024 at the age of 28.

Although the late weathercaster's second anniversary is being observed, the case remains unresolved. The bereaved family previously filed a damages lawsuit seeking 510 million won at the Seoul Central District Court (Civil Agreement Division 48) against weathercaster A, who was identified as the perpetrator.

According to the findings of a special labor inspection released by the Ministry of Employment and Labor through the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Administration in May of last year, the deceased had received repeated job guidance from seniors following her appointment, during which actions difficult to justify by operational necessity took place repeatedly. An instance where a senior colleague publicly made negative remarks regarding her appearance on an entertainment program was also singled out as a violation.

MBC subsequently apologized to the bereaved family, abolished the freelance weathercaster system around her first death anniversary, and announced a policy to introduce a "weather and climate expert" system to hire personnel as regular full-time staff.
