Allegations have emerged that a male comedian who debuted through SBS's open recruitment program caused a disturbance at a bar and left without paying the bill. The bar owner has filed a complaint against him on suspicion of property damage and obstruction of business.
According to JTBC's "Crime Chief", which aired on the 16th, a man identified as A and his acquaintance, B, visited a whiskey bar near Hongik University Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul, at around 11 p.m. on the 2nd. While the two were drinking beer and whiskey, a foreign customer entered the bar, spoke with them, and offered to shake hands. B then allegedly became upset and asked, "Why are you touching me?"
Employees and the informant immediately stepped in to mediate, and the situation appeared to be resolved when the foreign customer left the bar. However, when the informant explained that the customer had not initiated contact to pick a fight, A allegedly became angry and said, "Why are you, a Korean, taking the foreigner's side?" He also allegedly hurled insults at the informant, including, "Why are you so rude?" and "I'll ruin your business."
The informant claimed, "A shouted, 'I'm a comedian who debuted through SBS's open recruitment program,' and asked, 'Are you looking down on me because I'm drinking beer instead of whiskey?' He continued to swear and behave aggressively, eventually throwing a beer glass onto the floor, so we called the police."
Even after police arrived, the situation reportedly continued. When a female employee weighing around 40 kilograms lightly touched A in an attempt to calm him down, A allegedly claimed that the contact had dislocated his shoulder, portraying himself as the victim.
B, who spoke with the "Crime Chief" production team, offered a different account of the incident. He claimed that the foreign customer had tried to enter the bar despite there being no available seats, and that he became angry because the owner had behaved rudely toward him. "I couldn't throw the glass at a person, so I threw it on the floor instead," he said.
Regarding the unpaid bill, B claimed, "The owner took away the drinks we were having and told us to leave, so we didn't pay."
The informant filed a complaint against A for property damage and obstruction of business over the broken beer glass. Legal action against B is also reportedly being considered over the allegation that he left without paying his bill.
Meanwhile, speculation about A's identity has been spreading online. However, A has not yet publicly commented on the allegations.
