The film "The Assassin(s)" has taken first place in advance ticket reservation rates and sales rankings two days ahead of its release.
According to the Korean Film Council ticket reservation figures on the 21st, "The Assassin(s)" recorded 28.9%, overtaking "The Odyssey" (22.2%), which had held the top spot in this category for a long time, to rise to first place. Advance ticket sales surpassed 150,000, recording the highest figure among films targeting the Chuseok holiday.
Currently, the film at number one at the box office is "The Intern", which was released on the 16th. However, it showed less-than-expected momentum, with first-weekend audiences numbering in the 200,000 range and total weekly audiences stopping at 400,000. Given the current trend, it is highly likely that "The Assassin(s)" will rise to the number one spot at the box office upon its release.
"The Assassin(s)" tells the story of tracking the suspicions and mastermind behind the First Lady assassination incident that shocked South Korea on August 15, 1974. It is directed by Hur Jin-ho, who made "One Fine Spring Day" and "The Last Princess", and stars Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Minho.
