SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia" (written by Pyeon Sung-geun, directed by Lee Jung-rim), scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 9, unveiled a duo pictorial featuring leads Kim Ji-won and Lee Jung-eun through the October issue of fashion magazine "Marie Claire."
"Doctor X" is a refreshing medical noir depicting the journey of Gye Soo-jung, an uncompromising genius surgeon known as the "Mad Gye of the Operating Room," as she dismantles massive corruption through her surgical skills. It is drawing high expectations as SBS's top tentpole IP for the second half of the year, continuing the network's successful lineage of genre productions.
In the released photoshoot, Kim Ji-won and Lee Jung-eun instantly command attention with chic and intense expressions set against vivid, contrasting primary colors. Just standing side by side, their fresh combination and intriguing bond completely fill the frame.
In the series, Kim Ji-won takes on the role of Gye Soo-jung, a genius surgeon obsessed solely with operations, while Lee Jung-eun plays Jang Hee-sook, the head of a veteran doctor staffing agency. Forming a contractual relationship out of necessity yet sharing a bond deeper than family, the two will confront the immense power of Guseo University Hospital, alternating between seasoned teamwork and bickering chemistry.
