Scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 9, "Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia" (written by Pyeon Seung-geun, directed by Lee Jung-rim) has unveiled a lineup of 10 veteran actors who will further elevate the quality of the series, following Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, Son Hyun-ju, and Kim Woo-seok.
"Doctor X" is a refreshing medical noir that follows the exploits of Doctor X, Gye Su-jeong, known as the "madwoman of the operating room," who shatters massive corruption with her uncompromising, genius surgical skills. It is already generating high expectations as the top tentpole IP for the second half of 2026, continuing the lineage of SBS's successful genre series.
The newly revealed lineup features a large roster of veteran actors who have demonstrated deep acting prowess across various genres and media, including Lee Jin-hee, Kim Young-min, Lee Sung-wook, Kwon Seung-woo, Huh Joon-seok, Choi Duk-moon, Kim Jung-young, Kim Young-ah, Choi Kwang-il, and Jung Suk-yong.
At Guseo University Hospital where Gye Su-jeong (played by Kim Ji-won) will operate, the cast includes Lee Jin-hee as Jo Won-jin, an anesthesiology and pain medicine professor; Kim Young-min as Do Yoon-shik, a general surgery professor and ambitious man dreaming of becoming the hospital director; Lee Sung-wook as Bae Heung-gon, the god of laparoscopy; Kwon Seung-woo as Ma Sung-gyu, a chief resident; and Huh Joon-seok as Kim Sung-jin, an emergency medicine professor. They are expected to navigate between intense tension and lively chemistry within the hospital.
The members of Lee Jung-eun's character Jang Hee-sook's medical staffing agency are also solid. Choi Duk-moon as Yang Eung-gu, a North Korean defector turned traditional Korean medicine doctor, and Kim Jung-young as Yoo Mi-kyung, a hospice specialist, will portray reliable mentors and teachers to Gye Su-jeong and Jang Hee-sook, exuding warm chemistry.
In addition, Kim Young-ah as Lee Seon-ae, head of the hospital management team; Choi Kwang-il as Goo Bon-pyung, chairman of Guseo University Hospital and head of the powerful faction Mokryeonhoe; and Jung Suk-yong as Kim Chang-soo, president of the Medical Association, will form the axis of the power struggle, maximizing immersion in the drama.
The production team stated, "The intricately intertwined relationships within Guseo University Hospital and the tight chemistry among the agency members will blend with Gye Su-jeong's activities to make the drama even richer," and asked viewers to "look forward to the fantastic ensemble that the actors, each carrying their own narrative, will showcase."
SBS's highly anticipated series for the second half of the year, "Doctor X," will premiere on Friday, October 9, at 9:50 p.m.
