Actors Yoo Yeonseok and Go Ah-sung have been selected as members of the jury for the Actor of the Year award at the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
The Actor of the Year award is dedicated to discovering actors who showcase brilliant acting and potential within the Vision - Korea section. One actor and one actress are selected to receive a prize of 5 million won each, with one representative actor and actress from Korea taking on the judging duties each year.
Yoo Yeonseok made his screen debut playing the young Lee Woo-jin in "Oldboy" (2003) and has since solidified his standing as an actor spanning television dramas, films, plays, and musicals. In particular, he proved his mass appeal and acting skills through "Reply 1994" (2013), "Dr. Romantic" (2016), "Mr. Sunshine" (2018), and "Hospital Playlist" (2020, 2021). He has also built his own filmography on the big screen with genre-defying acting transformations in films such as "Architecture 101" (2012), "The Whistleblower" (2014), and "Steel Rain 2: Summit" (2020). In addition, he won the Top Excellence Award for an Actor in a Miniseries at the MBC Drama Awards for the drama "When the Phone Rings" (2024).
Go Ah-sung successfully debuted on the big screen with the 10-million-admissions film "The Host" (2006), winning the Best New Actress award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Actress of the Year award at the Director's Cut Awards, among others. Growing from a child actor into an adult actor, she subsequently proved her solid acting skills through "Snowpiercer" (2013), "Office" (2015), "A Melody to Remember" (2016), and "A Resistance" (2019). From "Samjin Company English Class" (2020), the 28th Busan International Film Festival opening film "Because I Hate Korea" (2024), "Time of Cinema" (2026), to "Pavane" (2026), Go Ah-sung has continuously garnered attention from the public and critics alike.
The Actor of the Year award winners will be announced at the Vision Awards ceremony of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which will be held from October 6 to October 15, and jury members Yoo Yeonseok and Go Ah-sung plan to attend the ceremony to meet the winners in person and present the awards.
