Singer J.Y. Park, who is also a father of two daughters, and JYP Entertainment have made a donation to support medical care for underprivileged children in Mexico.
According to JYP Entertainment, the initiative is part of its corporate social responsibility project "EDM (Every Dream Matters!)," aimed at delivering specialized medical assistance to young patients in Mexico. The total donation amounts to 550 million won (7.5 million pesos), combining 450 million won from JYP Entertainment and a personal contribution of 100 million won from J.Y. Park's private funds.
Recently, J.Y. Park, the founder and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of JYP Entertainment, personally met with representatives from World Vision Mexico, World Vision Korea, medical staff from the Association to Prevent Blindness in Mexico (APEC) Hospital, and other key partner institutions to unite their efforts.
The support project aims to save young lives and support their dreams by connecting children and adolescents diagnosed with critical illnesses to designated hospitals to receive specialized treatment, surgery, assistive medical equipment, and chemotherapy. Beneficiaries are selected through an initial financial vulnerability assessment conducted by the social work departments of each partner hospital, followed by a comprehensive review by World Vision Mexico and World Vision Korea based on the donor's criteria.
Regarding the donation, J.Y. Park shared, "While we love singing and performing for our fans, our ultimate purpose in being here today is to help children. I am a singer, but I am also a father to two daughters, aged seven and ten. Every time I see my daughters smile, I think of other children who are unable to realize their dreams because of health issues." He added, "Our success is possible thanks to the love and affection our fans send us, and I believe giving back that love is our natural duty. I am honored to join this effort to bring people together and raise awareness to help more children."
Virgilio Morales Cantón, Vice Director of APEC, stated, "It is very meaningful to participate in this global social contribution project. We will support these children so they can envision the future they dream of by providing specialized medical services to more of them."
Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment has continuously carried out medical support activities for young overseas patients through its EDM medical expense support project across South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and Brazil. From 2020 to the present, the company has provided approximately 10.01 billion won across 10 regions, helping 4,489 young patients recover their health and dream once again. Since 2022, J.Y. Park has also joined this meaningful journey with personal donations of 1 billion won each year from his own funds.
