Group aespa member WINTER was diagnosed with shingles during the group's U.S. tour, leading to her absence from the scheduled Dallas concert.
Agency SM Entertainment announced through an official notice on September 29, "WINTER experienced poor condition before the recent Miami concert (held on September 26), but took the stage with a determination to perform alongside the members. However, her condition did not sufficiently improve afterward, and following the Miami concert, she visited a hospital for a thorough examination, where she was diagnosed with shingles."
According to the agency, even after the diagnosis, WINTER showed a strong willingness to participate in the scheduled performance as much as possible, doing her best to recover right up until the show. However, they stated, "Following the medical staff's recommendation that the artist's health and sufficient recovery are the top priority, after careful discussions between the agency and the artist, it was unavoidably decided that she will sit out the Dallas concert on September 29 and take a rest."
According to the agency, even after the diagnosis, WINTER showed a strong willingness to participate in the scheduled performance as much as possible, doing her best to recover right up until the show. Accordingly, the main concert and the fan-meeting-style "Hi-Bye" and "Send-Off" events scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time on September 29 at the American Airlines Center in Texas proceeded with the three members KARINA, GISELLE, and NINGINING. The agency added, "As WINTER was also looking forward to meeting the audience in Dallas, she is deeply saddened that she cannot join this concert. We sincerely apologize to the fans for delivering this sudden news."
Meanwhile, the news of WINTER's absence came immediately after SM Entertainment announced strong legal action against malicious posts directed at WINTER, heightening fans' concerns.
SM Entertainment stated through an official notice on the same day, "We strictly warn that we will take strong legal action against the continuous spread of malicious posts targeting our agency artist aespa's WINTER," revealing that posts involving false information, defamation, insults, and sexual harassment have persisted across X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and online communities.
Regarding this, fans are expressing concern that the continuous spread of malicious posts surrounding WINTER since dating rumors with JUNGKOOK surfaced last year may have taken a mental and physical toll on her.
