Airing with a special extended broadcast on Friday, October 2, at 10:30 PM, the SBS Friday variety show "My Genie Secretary" will capture the awkward yet laughter-packed encounter between the secretary duo—old enough to be their uncles—and 2000s-born girl group RESCENE.
On this episode, Lee Seo-jin and Kim Kwang-gyu, whose average age is 56.5, welcome the members of RESCENE, who average 20.6 years old, as their "my stars." The two sides displayed a stark contrast in vibe from the very beginning. When RESCENE introduced their signature catchphrase, "Geoje Yaho~," the bewildered secretaries couldn't grasp it at all, asking, "Is that the 'yaho' you shout in the mountains?"—sparking bursts of laughter on set right from the start.
A major crisis also strikes Lee Seo-jin, who had previously earned a reputation as a "pro food orderer" with his flawless service. Tasked with ordering malatang at RESCENE's request, he looked over their ingredient list and couldn't hide his confusion at the unfamiliar names, asking, "What is fenmozi? Is it a hat?"
Furthermore, when introduced to Gen Z play trends such as "wax pop balls" and squishy stress toys (mallangi), Lee Seo-jin drew laughs with his characteristically blunt and candid reaction: "Why is this even a trend? I'd rather just eat a whole fried chicken." In response, RESCENE's youngest member, MAY, reportedly stepped up as a one-day tutor to conduct a "one-on-one squishy tutoring session" to help salvage the situation.
Whether the secretary duo can bridge their massive 35.9-year age gap and successfully complete their VIP care will be revealed on "My Genie Secretary," airing this Friday, October 2, at 10:30 PM.
