Rapper Northfacegawd (real name Han Sang-hoon) has apologized for inserting an AI-generated likeness of professional gamer Faker (real name Lee Sang-hyeok) into his new music video.
Northfacegawd wrote on his social media, "I am sorry for causing confusion and inconvenience to many people by inserting an AI of player Faker into the final part of the music video for my song 'Faker.'"
He stated, "I had no bad intentions, such as trying to monetize a celebrity's face. This happened 100% due to my ignorance," and explained, "The video in question was deleted immediately." He added, "I sincerely apologize to player Faker and the SKT T1 fans who must have felt uncomfortable. Going forward, I will review things carefully before taking action."
"Faker" is the fourth track on the new album released by Northfacegawd on October 4. As an AI-generated appearance of Faker was included in the final part of the song's music video, criticism was raised over using a celebrity's face without consent.
Northfacegawd appeared on Mnet's "Show Me The Money 12," where he passed the Seoul preliminary round but was eliminated in the second preliminary round. He later appeared on "Show Me The Money 12: World of Yacha," where eliminated contestants competed again, and engaged in a 1-on-1 battle against rapper untell, losing by a single vote.
Northfacegawd has been sharing the reality of living as a rapper on social media. In August, he posted about working at a construction site, writing on social media, "I am 35 years old, and it has been about half a year since I started working as a general laborer doing manual work." He also revealed that he has been delivering milk for three years.
This album features 12 tracks, including the title track "Flyest Unc (Feat. 100kgold)," as well as "Glo to Your Grind (Feat. Namgoong Man)" and "With You (Feat. Skinny Brown)."
