SBS's Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White" (written by Pyun Sung-geun, directed by Lee Jung-rim) continues its unstoppable run, breaking past a peak viewership rating of 20.8% and a nationwide rating of 18.5% (based on Nielsen Korea) as of Episode 4. It also swept the top spot on Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows weekly ranking for two consecutive weeks and ranked first in overall TV-OTT buzz, proving the drama's massive popularity.
In Episode 5, airing on October 23, a breathtaking direct confrontation unfolds between Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won) and new surgeon Na Dae-il (played by Jang Seung-jo). Previously, Gye Soo-jung delivered a shock after uncovering horrific traces left by Na Dae-il, who had carved his own initials onto a patient's organ during a past surgery.
In still cuts released on October 22 ahead of the Episode 5 broadcast, Na Dae-il is seen with a chilling, bizarre smile during his past days as a military doctor, appearing consumed by his own desires rather than a patient's life. Following this, the present-day Gye Soo-jung is shown blocking Na Dae-il's past surgery. Firmly grabbing Na Dae-il's bloodstained hand, Gye Soo-jung confronts him with eyes filled with rage and contempt, creating intense, hair-trigger tension.
Anticipation is mounting over what decisive blow Gye Soo-jung will deliver to shatter the arrogance of Na Dae-il, who trampled on bioethics while outwardly enjoying admiration and trust.
Episode 5 of "Doctor X: Mafia in White," featuring the satisfying retribution of Gye Soo-jung—known as "Crazy Gye of the Operating Room"—will air on Friday, October 23, at 9:50 PM.
