Actor Jinyoung is set to deliver hard-hitting action in the upcoming film "Fighter."
Produced by Big Punch Pictures and Contents G, and co-produced by Company Black, the movie "Fighter" officially begins filming on October 28.
"Fighter" is a youth crime action film following Hye-seong (played by Jinyoung), an unknown mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who dreams of making it to the UFC. After taking on a dangerous assignment with his best friend Won-do (played by Kim Min-ho), he becomes entangled in a high-stakes conflict over a cold wallet holding 60 billion won worth of cryptocurrency. When Tae-oh (played by Cha Woo-jin) begins threatening the people he holds dear, Hye-seong faces off against his fiercest adversary to save his friend.
Jinyoung, the actor and former B1A4 member who appeared in the films "You Are the Apple of My Eye" and "The Dude in Me" as well as the series "Sweet Home," takes on the role of Hye-seong. Hye-seong is a character who never lets go of his training despite working at a sauna to pay off debts and cover the hospital bills for his younger sibling, Yoo-seong. Jinyoung is set to showcase authentic, realistic fight action along with Hye-seong's fierce sense of responsibility to protect his family and friends.
Kim Min-ho, who starred in the drama series "New Recruit" and the films "6/45" and "Count," plays Hye-seong's best friend and self-proclaimed manager, Won-do. While struggling to manage an auto repair shop he bought with borrowed funds, Won-do believes in Hye-seong's potential more than anyone else. Practical when it comes to money yet always putting his friend first in a crisis, Kim Min-ho is expected to deliver both deep friendship and warm humor.
Cha Woo-jin, who appeared in the films "The Roundup" and "Men of Plastic" and the series "Nine Puzzles," portrays Hye-seong's greatest foe, Tae-oh. Depicting Tae-oh's calculating and relentless drive to use anyone to achieve his ambitions, Cha raises the tension with intense charisma as he pushes Hye-seong to the brink.
Lee Seol, who starred in the film "A Tour Guide" and the dramas "Between Him and Her" and "One Ordinary Day," joins the cast as Ji-na, a nurse at the hospital where Yoo-seong is admitted. Ji-na gradually grows closer to Hye-seong, sharing a subtle spark of emotion. Alongside Jinyoung, Lee will portray the delicate process of two people cautiously opening their hearts to each other, adding rich emotional nuance to the narrative.
Director Kim Seok-mok is helming the project, generating buzz for his fresh directorial vision. Infusing realistic MMA action with youthful energy and upbeat entertainment, the film is set to bring to life the vibrant friendship and growth of Hye-seong, who chases his dreams, and Won-do, who stands by him on that journey.
"Fighter" is aiming for a release in 2027.
