The film "Final Interview" has surpassed "Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island," which has held the No. 1 spot at the weekend box office for four consecutive weeks, to claim first place in advance ticket sales.
According to reservation data from the Korean Film Council on the afternoon of November 2, "Final Interview" topped both categories with a reservation rate of 18.7% and 31,000 reserved tickets. "Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island" is currently in second place with a reservation rate of 13.5% and 22,000 reserved tickets.

"Final Interview" is a mystery thriller depicting the story that unfolds when six applicants, who beat 5,000-to-1 odds to reach the final interview, discover mysterious envelopes containing their secrets. Adapted from Japanese author Asakura Akinari's novel "Six Lying College Students" to fit Korean circumstances and sentiments, the film stars Cho Yi-hyun, Kim Jaewon, Shin Seungho, Kang Youseok, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Bae Gang-Hee.
Showcasing talented young actors in their 20s and 30s, "Final Interview" realistically captures a portrait of modern society through the cutthroat job hunt, emerging as a dark horse in theaters this fall with its suspenseful narrative. Meanwhile, "Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island" was initially pushed behind "The Assassin(s)" during its early release, but successfully surged from its second week onward, demonstrating formidable staying power.
"Final Interview," led by a dynamic young cast, and "Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island," driven by its beloved cute characters, will enter an unavoidable head-to-head showdown starting November 4.
